NYSSA 7th Annual Vintage Sled Show Winners!

  • NYSSA is pleased to announce the winners of the NYSSA 7th Annual Vintage Sled Show, which took place at the SLEDNY Educaitonal Forum on Saturday, April 30 in Lake Placid, NY.  the show was held in the 1932 Jack Shea Ice Arena, adding an even greater touch of nostalgia to the event.

    Overall, 34 sleds were entered, with the owner of the farthest entry traveling over 300 miles to participate.  The show was judged by Tim Carr of Oneida,, NY and Jeff Mowers of Taburg, NY.

    Class 1 – Original 1979 and older – 9 entries – 1st – Steve Becker with a 1969 Mallard/Sno Wing; 2nd – Matt Lane, with a 1972 Snow Jet 396.
    Class 2 – Restored 1979 and older – 8 entries – 1st – Tom Halloran with a 1969 Ski-Doo Olympic; 2nd – Steve Becker, with a 1969 Muscaro.
    Class 3 – Open (1980 and newer) – 8 entries – 1st – Mike Davies with a 2005 Arctic Cat Saber Cat; 2nd – Craig Barker, with a 1981 Arctic Cat ElTigre 6000
    Class 4 – Race Sled – 5 entries -1st – Randy Sherman with a 1979 Polaris Centurion; 2nd Dave Ambrose with a 1970 Ski-Roule RTX800
    Class 5 – Farthest Travelled – Thomas Dickerson of Lockport NY, who brought his Scorpion Stinger 341 miles to display proudly!
    Class 6 – Best Display – Thomas Dickerson and his Scorpion display.
    Class 7 – 3 entries – Cutter Class – Monica Laforty with her 1971 Arctic Cat Lynx with a Kat Cutter.
    Class 8 – 3 entries – Mini Class – Bill Jennings, with his 1970 Track Cycle.
    Class 9 – Custom Class – 1 entry – Randy Sherman with his 1973 Polaris Starfire 440.
    Class 10 – Delegates Class – 4 entries – Ken Radley with his 1973 Puma 440.
    Class 11 – Junk Yard Dog – 2 entries – Ed Stabb with his 1964 Scorpion/Fiberglass.
    Class 12 – People’s Choice  – Tom Halloran’s 1969 Ski-Doo Olympic!

    BEST IN SHOW – Gene Parody’s Skidoo ATV/Boat
    OLDEST SLED – Ed Stab’s 1964 Scorpion/Fiberglass.
