Thin Ice Warning

With temps going from very warm weather to fairly cold weather don’t be tempted to venture out onto seemingly frozen lakes.  Reports from the Adirondacks leave me to believe, that many lakes that still had ice near the end of February, warmed considerably with rain and snow melt raising lake levels pulling the ice away from shore.  Cold temps on the 2nd and predicted for the 3&4th may refreeze the shore line but this black ice is sure to be thin and may be covered by a thin layer of snow.

Use extreme caution if going onto a lake.  Better yet play it safe and stay off any lake at this point.  It take five inches of good ice to support a sled under ideal conditions.
