NYSSA is a not-for-profit corporation, and therefore its Bylaws are the governing document. If an area of concern is not addressed directly in the Bylaws, the Policy Manual is the next document in precedence.
Topics that are not covered in either document are usually brought to a vote at a Board of Directors meeting. Often new topics emerge that are added to the Policy Manual after approval by the Board.
The bylaws may only be changed by approval of voting Delegates at NYSSA’s Annual Meeting. Bylaw revision forms containing suggested revisions must be submitted no later than 90 days prior to the Annual Meeting, to be considered.
