Vintage Bill Signed into Law
Press Release:
New York State Vintage Legislation
The New York State Snowmobile Association is pleased to announce the passage of the Vintage Snowmobile Bill S7200B/A.2163B as it relates to snowmobile registrations. The details of the bill were carefully crafted by the Governmental Affairs committee with thorough discussion and planning and then approved by the Board of Directors. Our Government Relations Lobbyist, Park Strategies worked within the legislature to get bill sponsors and move it through the legislative process to the to the Governor’s desk for her signature into law. The new law allows snowmobiles older than 30 years from the current registration year to be registered annually for a fee of $25 for any snowmobile owned by a current NYSSA club member with twenty of the twenty-five going to the trail fund. It is now in the hands of NYS DMV to enact the law on their end. Due to software upgrades in progress, it may take them into 2028 for implementation. We will be working with DMV officials to make it effective as soon as possible.
We thank Senator Ryan and former Assemblyman Jones for your commitment to passing this vintage snowmobile legislation and keeping the spirit of our sport’s past alive for generations to come. We applaud and thank Governor Hochul for also supporting the preservation of our snowmobiling heritage. Additionally, we thank the vintage snowmobile community for their diligence and support in pushing this to the finish line.
