One Voice, Inc. and U.S. Forest Service Sign National MOU to Strengthen OHV and OSV Recreation and Stewardship
One Voice, Inc., a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit representing the diverse motorized recreation community, announced today the signing of a national Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the U.S. Forest Service to enhance off-highway vehicle (OHV) and over-snow vehicle (OSV) recreation opportunities across National Forest System lands.
The MOU establishes a framework for collaboration focused on improving trail systems and public access, safety education, mapping accuracy, volunteer engagement, and data-driven decision-making. Together, One Voice and the Forest Service aim to support sustainable recreation while meeting growing public demand for access to trails, roads, and associated amenities on national forests and grasslands.
“We celebrate the importance and recognize the spirit of the Off-Road community, who frequent and help grow the economies of the many communities that surround our national forests,” said Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz. “National partnerships like this one with One Voice, Inc., help us improve access for all Americans and retain resources so these destinations can be enjoyed responsibly for generations.”
“This MOU represents a shared commitment to stewardship, transparency, and collaboration,” said a representative of One Voice, Inc. “By working together, we can improve recreational experiences while protecting the long-term health and accessibility of our public lands.” “This MOU represents a meaningful step forward for responsible motorized recreation,” said Marcus Trusty, Chairman of One Voice, Inc., Scott Jones, Esq. One Voice Vice Chairman expanded these sentiments: “By working directly with the Forest Service, we can combine grassroots knowledge, industry expertise, and shared stewardship values to improve trail systems, expand access, and ensure these public lands are enjoyed responsibly for generations to come.”
Under the agreement, One Voice will support education on responsible recreation and safety, assist with trail system planning and map updates, expand volunteerism, and help collect and share data on visitation and economic impacts—particularly in rural communities. One Voice will also serve as a conduit between grassroots clubs, industry partners, and land managers to strengthen stewardship efforts nationwide.
The Forest Service will collaborate with One Voice to expand partnerships, support trail maintenance and construction, participate in trainings and conferences, and share information related to trail planning, mapping, and use etiquette. The agency will also continue to provide and enhance OHV and OSV access through maintained trails, road-to-trail conversions where appropriate, and improved amenities such as trailheads and campgrounds.
The partnership reflects a growing recognition that collaborative stewardship and volunteer engagement are essential to maintaining and enhancing recreation infrastructure amid increasing demand and limited resources.
